Screen Printing in Seattle Benefits

There are a number of benefits to screen printing, there is a reason why it is one of the most popular printing methods available.

Screen printing results in vibrant colors

  • Screen printing results in vibrant colors that pop every time. Unless you request for a vintage screen print, we typically underbase all of our screen prints with a white layer and apply colors on top to ensure vibrancy.

Screen printing services is low cost at higher quantities

  • At higher quantities, screen printing is a cost-effective print method.

Screen printing lasts a long time.

  • Screen prints are made to last. After a screen print is run through our conveyor dryer it leaves fully cured and ready to be worn, washed and used repeatedly

Screen Printing Limitations

While screen printing is all around a great printing method, there are limitations that may warrant another printing method.

Screen printing all around a shirt

  • Screen printing requires a flat surface for print, which means that we can not print on obscure areas, such as on top of seams, so we cannot do any "all-around print". For prints like these, we recommend sublimation.

Screen printing size

  • Our maximum print size is 14 x 17 inches.

Screen Printing more than 8 colors

  • Screen printing more than 8 colors is not feasible since our machine only allows a maximum of 8 colors. If you have more than 8 colors, a DTF or Sublimation print is a better option.

Screen Printing a small run of items is expensive

  • Since screen printing requires a lot of resources to set up your design, it is usually avoided for smaller runs. For instance, if you do a screen print on the front and back of one shirt, the shirt can cost up to $100 for the order. This is why we recommend different printing methods like DTF printing for smaller runs.

Screen Printing Care Instructions

To ensure the longevity and vibrant appearance of your custom screen-printed apparel, we recommend following these specific care instructions.

Washing Guidelines:

  • Temperature: Always use cold water for washing. Cold water prevents the ink from fading and preserves the integrity of the design.
  • Orientation: Turn your garments inside out before washing. This protects the screen-printed surface from friction with other items and the washing machine itself.
  • Detergent: Opt for a mild detergent. Harsh chemicals can break down the ink used in screen printing, leading to fading and cracking.

Drying Guidelines:

  • Preferred Method: Whenever possible, hang dry your screen-printed garments. Air drying is the gentlest way to dry clothes, reducing the risk of heat damage and shrinkage.
  • Alternative Method: If hang drying isn’t an option, you can use a dryer. However, ensure the garment is still turned inside out to protect the print. Use a low heat setting to minimize potential damage.

Ironing Instructions:

  • Direct Ironing: Direct ironing on the screen-printed area is not recommended, as the heat can melt the print, causing it to warp or crack.
  • Safe Ironing: If ironing is necessary, always turn the garment inside out to iron the reverse side of the print. This approach avoids direct contact with the print while removing wrinkles.
